One of the things I love watching at this time of year is the Tour De France. No, I’m not an avid cyclist fan, nor do I watch any of the other competitions on the world circuit (though I have ventured over to Adelaide 2 years running to watch the Tour Down Under). I watch the Tour for 2 reasons; I have a well known admiration for Lance Armstrong (that is soooo another topic) and the other is for the stunning romantic scenery surrounding the Tour. The endless images of 12th century Castles and the history, just melts my heart and itches my on going will to be there in person one day.

So following the Tour, I wanted to share with you some ideas for a French Candy inspired wedding theme. Just the name itself conjures the mind to candy stripes, pinks, romance, loads of fun, detail and a gorgeous candy station.

What’s more, this French Candy inspired theme is fun and will keep your guests intrigued and engaged throughout the night as they scan the room for the finer details.  For a more toned down effect you could certainly choose to follow a more traditional French theme.

I love the idea of the champagne chilled in an ice bucket. Placed strategically in the reception venue this could be the ‘water cooler’ of the wedding.

Gorgeous french candy bomboniere. Have the guests take a little of Paris home with them. You could fill your french bags with truffles, candys (as shown), macaroons, madeleines, or pates de fruits (jelly candy.

Finally go the traditional French wedding cake, croquembouche and decorate it using your candy theme; perhaps pink french garden roses, placed randomly around the cake.

All I can say is, this wedding style will leave a wonderful lasting impression with your guests. A twist on the traditional french theme, but one which will be talked about for a long time to come.
